Fortunately, It’s Almost Over
What can I say about 2021? For me and much of the world, it was a year of uncertainty and adjustment following the COVID-19 craziness of 2020. Venturing out to do shows seemed like a major undertaking fraught with peril on both sides of the selling equation, and we chose not to participate in any of the large shows which were held this year. Crowds were hesitant to come out, but by many accounts, people who did attend were in a buying mood, perhaps driven by months of having to stare at the bare walls of their homes. Our October show in Columbia, MD (the subject of “Venturing Out Slowly”) was not a success due to low attendance and torrential rain on Sunday afternoon. We look forward to returning to Lakefest next June in Columbia, which is one of our favorite venues. 2022 has to be better, right?
In other 2021 news, my gallery sales at District Arts have been steady (thank you, Staci and Bill McLauchlan!), and I truly enjoy creating work to keep them supplied. These Leaf Dance Panels were the 8th shipment of my work to District Arts since they opened in 2018.
Unfortunately, FedEx damaged two of them in transit (booo!), but you can see parts of the others hanging behind the very cool Christmas tree sculpture by fellow artists Ken and Julie Girardini.
Here’s hoping that the final days of 2021 will be good ones for us all.
